Hello Bear

On a foggy/rainy day in Ōtepoti (Dunedin), i sit here in my quaint rental high in the hills of Halfway Bush configuring my upcoming travel blog

Fueled by the groovy jams of Japanese neo-soul guitarist Toshiki Soejima (1, 2, 3), the clicky-clack of a mechanical keyboard oscillate between rapid and slow bursts as i explore the functionity of the static website generator Hugo

I’ve settled on the ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ Bear theme, which i’ll candidly admit is in part due to the name and cute ASCII emojis, but mainly for the simplicity of the rendered output

Traditionally, whenever programmers write their first program in a new language/framework, a simple program is created to generate the words “Hello World.” As such, this is a “Hello Bear” initial post

Having already explored in the motorhome for roughly 15 nights, it seems prudent to begin capturing our adventures so that family, friends, and i may look back on these memories fondly when long in the tooth and grey hairs are plentiful

Being located in Halfway Bush, we are but a short 5-minute drive to Whare Flat, an extensive network of mountain biking tracks through a City Forest block. Directly across the road is a trailhead to Swampy Summit and Pineapple Track (the bold red track)

We spent an hour this morning hiking in the rain. Helix, in his typical goofy manner, likes to roll around in the wet grass in a brief moment of respite before tearing off with Kopu in hot pursuit

Prior to our morning outing, i started a lamb and veg roast. Aromatics fill the house as the whirl of the electric pellet fire stove drones on in the background. Momo is curled up on a random blanket having no desire to venture outside in this deary weather
